PORSCHE 911 (996) CARRERA 2 TARGA, 2003

Owned from new by a respected designer, whose company, SMC Engineering, produced a number of special 6-wheel Land Rovers and Range Rovers (Sandringham Sahara, Ellgee and more) from the early 1970s onwards. He was also responsible for the famous 6-wheel Mini Cooper used by The Beatles in the 1960s. To add further to the story, his grandfather was the founder of a cycle repair business which would later become the Raleigh Bicycle Company. 

This 996 series 3.6 Carrera 2 Targa was first registered on 17th June 2003 with the registration mark ‘POD 1’ and has since covered a very modest 25,000 cosseted and fully documented miles. Presented today in a condition as little removed from ‘as new’ as possible for a car which has actually been used on the road. 

Finished in Arctic Silver with full black leather (extended).

Bodywork and paintwork are 100% Factory original, and nigh on flawless. The interior shows only negligible signs of use and still smells like a brand new Porsche. Mechanically perfect, having recently been serviced and fitted with a new battery and four correct specification Bridgestone tyres.

Paperwork consists of a comprehensive history file of invoices dating back to the original sales invoice, old MoT certificates and the all important complete Porsche book pack which itself, of course, includes the fully stamped service book.

The original sales invoice, and the stickers inside both the front compartment lid and service book, show the options fitted to the car, as supplied from the Factory, amongst which were the Carrera rear spoiler, Tiptronic S gearbox, 18” split rim alloy wheels, heated and electrically operated seats, uprated PCM and Satellite Navigation with colour screen, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), cruise control, Bose HiFi including Autopilot and CD changer. The car is also fitted with a Tracker device.
